Why Suna Traffic Channel information will help you

Suna Traffic Channel uses the international TMC (Traffic Message Channel) standard to broadcast traffic information.  We deliver the traffic information to your navigation device via an FM bases radio signal so that you can be alerted to any known problems.  Your navigation device may then prompt you to revise your route, simply alert you to the issues ahead or even automatically re-route you on to the best available alternative path.

What information will I receive through Suna Traffic Channel?

We continually monitor road conditions to bring you detailed warnings about both incidents, and traffic congestion across the metropolitan area that could affect your journey on the road.

To help make your journey easier, we are able to provide your compatible navigation device with information that includes:
  • Description of the incident – what is causing the jam
  • The location of the area affected
  • How long you will be delayed
  • Options for detour
  • When you will arrive

The following information breaks this down a little further to explain what we broadcast on adverse driving conditions:

Location: Where the problem is.

  • Generally you will find conditions are mapped to road segments that are bounded by major intersections (on arterial roads) or by entry/exit ramps on freeways.

Impact:  The severity of the reduced speed or delay.

Description of the incident:

  • This information is not relevant to routine or peak hour congestion, but is provided where known.  Examples are accidents, roadworks, oil spill, floods and adverse weather.

Depending on your individual device, warnings may be presented as graphics, spoken word or you may simply be re-routed around the delay.
