If I spot a traffic incident, how can I let SUNA know?

SUNA GPS Traffic Updates is very grateful for the feedback and notifications of traffic conditions being provided to them from motorists. This helps make the service more accurate for all road users. The best way to provide this information to SUNA is by going to the website’s contact us section and selecting “report traffic experience”. Alternatively, follow this link: http://www.sunatraffic.com.au/contact-us/report-traffic-experience/. If your preference is to report your experience via the phone, the number to contact SUNA via the phone is 1300 00 SUNA (1300 00 7862).

How do I pay for a subscription to get SUNA GPS Traffic Updates?

If your device comes with SUNA GPS Traffic Updates as standard “in the box”, the device should be receiving live traffic updates automatically.  No additional hardware is required and the SUNA GPS Traffic Updates subscription runs for the lifetime of the device.

Please refer to your device manual for further information for your specific device and settings. Please check to ensure that you are in a broadcast area by viewing the appropriate map within the following link http://www.sunatraffic.com.au/coverage/. If you are confident you are within a broadcast area and still require further assistance, please refer to the retailer of purchase.

I could not receive traffic reports on my device today – is there a problem?

SUNA is broadcast using FM technology and occasionally devices may experience drop-outs. Transmission ‘black spots’ can affect reception, especially in very dense urban areas such as CBD, and terrain effects, (e.g. valleys).

For portable navigation devices the correct placement of the antenna will also minimise the chance of drop-outs. Please refer to the hardware manual for further information.

For current service information please see http://www.sunatraffic.com.au/serviceinfo.html

Can I get Suna Traffic Channel for my current Personal Navigation Device?

Some devices are able to be adapted to receive SUNA live traffic. Please check with your individual user manual or with your PND supplier or manufacturer.

If your device comes with the SUNA Traffic Channel RDS-TMC as standard “in the box”, no additional hardware is required and the SUNA subscription runs for the lifetime of the device (subject to the terms of the end user license). Most dedicated navigation devices are in this category. The device should be receiving live traffic updates automatically. Please refer to your device manual for further information for your specific device and settings. Please check to ensure that you are in a broadcast area by viewing the appropriate map within the following link http://www.sunatraffic.com.au/coverage/ If you are confident you are within a broadcast area and still require further assistance, please refer to the retailer of purchase.

If your navigation application operates on a smartphone, you may require an additional subscription to receive SUNA traffic updates.

Additional subscription models may be introduced in the future to meet the needs of the next generation of devices capable of receiving SUNA Traffic Channel.

If you have upgraded your device by purchasing a TMC accessory or antenna, you will need to ensure that you have the correct version of maps installed. Please check against your specific device for further information.
